Online registration for Black Gold Summer School 2025 will open at

9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26.


Black Gold Summer School offers two distinct Physical Education 10 courses.

Classroom-Based Phys. Ed. 10


COURSE DESCRIPTION

Classroom-based Phys. Ed. 10 offers students an opportunity to earn 5 credits by participating in a two-week, teacher-led course in July. Students will be involved in a variety of activities which may include:

  • team sports (e.g. basketball, soccer, volleyball)
  • individual sports (e.g. frisbee golf, weight training, badminton)
  • gymnastics (e.g. yoga, stretching, Pilates)
  • dance (e.g. modern, line, Zumba)
  • alternate environments (e.g. rock climbing, canoeing, cycling)

As this course will focus on participation and wellness, Phys. Ed. 10 summer school students should be prepared to be fully engaged and active for eight hours every class day. Full attendance and a positive attitude is expected and required.

Classroom-Based Phys. Ed. 10 is offered in 2 separate locations.

  • Opaho Secondary School, 4800 69 Street, Leduc - FULL

  • Ecole Secondaire Beaumont Composite High School, 5417 43 Avenue, Beaumont

Module Based Phys. Ed. 10 - (FULL)


COURSE DESCRIPTION

Module Based Phys. Ed. 10 provides a self-directed learning opportunity in which students plan, develop, and track personalized fitness and activity goals. Students will participate in all five dimensions of Physical Education: Individual, Games, Dance, Gymnastics, and Alternative Environments.  


COURSE DELIVERY

This course is delivered online through Google Classroom. Students will choose physical activities they enjoy and record 80 hours in a logbook for 5 credits. Students must also complete assignments that include Nutrition and Wellness, CPR Basics, and Health Services Foundations (HSS1010) for an additional credit.


COURSE SCHEDULE

Registrants will receive their Google Classroom in the final week of May and all assignments and logbook submissions must be completed by the final week of July.

Module Based Phys Ed 10 may be taken in conjunction with one other summer school course.
